Videotree launches new fitness av system

Videotree has designed and built Videogym, an audio-visual distribution system specifically for gyms and health clubs.

It allows each item of equipment, be it exercise bike, running machine or stepper, etc., to have its own fully controllable screen with headset and up to 32 channels of video and digital stereo audio. Each screen will have forced channel capability for sponsorship and potential targeted advertising.

The system delivers power, audio, radio, TV and video to each individual exercise point, via a single CAT 5 cable. Images are displayed on a TFT screen mounted at each exercise position, with channel selection, volume, bass and treble control being via a touchpad mounted directly onto the machine.

Once the fitness centre is cabled, it can be reconfigured physically in the future and the TV system will still be operational without rewiring. In addition to individual systems on equipment, the centre can install systems in bars, rest areas and changing rooms, all of which can be used to deliver advertising or promotional material.

The system has already been installed at both the Third Space in Soho and Holmes Place in Notting Hill, where it is reported to have been very well received.

The Lea Marston Hotel and Leisure Complex and The Abbey Golf and Country Club, both operating under the Best Western Hotels umbrella, are due to have systems installed in August 2005.
